Loss and Grief Work We as Gay Men have lived a life of pain whether we consciously realize it or not. Since our birth we've not been able to truly live the life and lifestyle that we were born to live. There's always been someone or some institution out there telling us what we feel, think and that our desires are wrong. THIS IS LOSS. LOSS OF OUR PERSONHOOD. As we've matured, we've come to realize and feel the pain and the loss. The loss of not being who we're meant to be. Some of us are able to grieve the losses. And others of us cannot. Some of us realize why we're feeling the pain and the loss and others of us just know that we have pain and loss, but don't know why. And now as adult Gay Men, we're dealing with other inflicted pain and losses. The break-up of a partnership, death of a friend, a personal accident that confines us to the house. The loss of a job, due to down-sizing or our-sourcing. Growing older and not being valued by our community members. Having to give up our home because we can no longer afford it. All of these are major issues that inflict pain and create loss and grief in our lives. Overall, we're doing well, coping with our pain, loss and grief, but we really need to just let it all go and move forward, becoming the Gay Man that we really are. This may mean going to a Grief Counselor, to purge ourselves of the grief held within, and learn new ways to cope with the pain and loss. Degriefing™ is a process that allows us to heal the pain and the loss and move through the grief, and move on to a healthy life and lifestyle. Degriefing™ combines traditional talk therapies, education, somatic practices and holistic health modalities to assist us in the healing of our held pain, loss, and grief. Degriefing™ sessions are usually two hours in length and are scheduled every two weeks. If you are interested in our services, please contact us. |
